Red Wine Stains

It happens - the dinner party is bowling along and suddenly red wine gets spilt on a white cloth or carpet.

The trick is to immediately dowse with plenty of WHITE wine and then pile bicarbonate of soda on the spill. Leave the bi-carb in place and it will gradually draw up the wine and remove the stain.

Soda water in place of white wine also works well, especially if you have one of those old-fashioned soda siphons.
