Icing a Cake

Icing a cake can be a pain especially if your mix is a little on the thin side. You can help prevent it from running too much by giving your cake a light dusting of flour.

You can also cheat with the cake mix. If it calls for three eggs and you only have two, use a tablespoon of vinegar in place of the third egg. Just why this works is a bit of a mystery, but as a cooking tip it dates back to the Second World War, when fresh eggs were in short supply.
